Black Heart Bart will be perfectly suited to the conditions of the race and remains an outright $3.80 favourite in 2017 CF Orr Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Malaguerra and Lucky Hussler ($6.50).

Will Black Heart Bart justify favouritism and win the 2017 Ladbrokes CF Orr Stakes, or will one of his talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Black Heart Bart ($3.80)

A former Perth galloper, Black Heart Bart has returned to racing in typically exceptional form for Darren Weir this time and should just win the Ladbrokes CF Orr Stakes. Storming home to win the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield first-up in spring, the Blackfriars gelding placed second to Palentino in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m), before returning to winning form in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m). Running second to Winx in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Stakes (2000m) before failing to fire in the Cox Plate, Black Heart Bart ran on well for second in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) first-up and is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from the run.

2nd

Arod ($15)

Arod has reportedly taken a great deal of benefit from his time away from racing and is over the Ladbrokes CF Orr Stakes odds at his current quote. A standout for British trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam through the early stages of his racing career, the Teofilo gelding found career-best form to date during a 2015 campaign, which heralded two black type wins and a close second to champion miler Solow in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes (1600m) most notably. Having debuted for Chris Waller with a strong run for second in the Group 3 L’Oreal Paris Stakes (1400m) on Crown Oaks Day, Arod will jumped from the rails draw with Craig Williams aboard this weekend.

3rd

Palentino ($19)

Multiple Group 1 winner Palentino is another horse who is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from his first-up run in the Australia Stakes and will relish a step up in distance into the CF Orr Stakes field. Steadily building to the task in spring, the son of Teofilo tapered off somewhat after his third-up win in the Makybe Diva Stakes, but his class is sure to count for plenty early this preparation. Drawn ideally in barrier 7, regular hoop Mark Zahra will take the ride on Palentino this weekend.
