Black Caviar will face some of her toughest opposition as she attempts to win her 18th race start in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes this Saturday February 11, 2012.
Included in the 2012 CF Orr Stakes horse racing fields is Southern Speed, who won last year’s Caulfield Cup.
Jockey Craig Williams believes the talented CF Orr Stakes field is great for the industry and will make for a thrilling race.
“It is great for racing,” Williams said.
“Her opposition has been becoming a bit mundane as the others try to avoid her but to run against a Caulfield Cup winner of the previous year who won so well first-up adds a little bit more to it this time.”
Williams is optimistic that he can get a bit closer than most of Black Caviar’s recent opposition.
“I am hoping that over seven furlongs I won’t need to have binoculars to see her backside,” he said.
Playing God is also set to line up against Black Caviar in the 2012 CF Orr Stakes.
Trainer Neville Parnham is looking forward to the race, but is resigned to the fact he will not be passing the post ahead of Black Caviar.
“I am looking forward to Saturday but obviously he is not going to beat her,” Parnham said.
“So long as he runs an even race and is working to the line like a miler and middle distance horse should do on Saturday, I will be happy.”
